A New Client Resource for Medicare Planning

Comprehensive financial planning requires expertise and experience across a broad range of disciplines. Over the past 37 years, I have endeavored to become a domain authority in most of them. Medicare is not one of them.
While I believe I have a better-than-average understanding of Medicare rules, premiums and IRMAA limits, I do not believe I am qualified to assist clients in making the choice between original Medicare, the federally-run health insurance program, or Medicare Advantage, the bundled alternative to original Medicare run by private insurance companies. The task is made more challenging by virtue of the fact the purveyors of Medicare Advantage plans naturally would prefer consumers not sign up for Medicare in favor of their respective policies. As fascinating as this subject matter may seem, it is not a topic in which I wish to become an expert.
This financial planner’s challenge is to find a person or firm who operates in this space who will guide our clients objectively and with integrity. For many years, I had a brilliant local authority in Eileen Hilton, MD of Crown Care Hawaii. Unfortunately, she had the audacity to retire.
